Local elections are being held in Poland today, considered the first test for the pro-European camp that came to power at the end of last year, France Press reported. Voters vote for mayors, local and regional councilors from among about 200,000 candidates across the country, BTA listed.
According to the polls, the pro-European coalition that is in power - "Civil Coalition" of Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the nationalists and populists of "Law and Justice" have 30 percent each. The main battles between them are those for 16 regional councils. Pro-European forces do not hope to win 15 of them. Now the former rulers still control five districts.
