Russian forces today shelled two residential buildings in the Kharkiv region of North-Eastern Ukraine. According to the authorities, one person died and another was injured, France Press reported.
The attack took place in Vovchansk, a town about five kilometers from the Russian border, which was often the target of attacks during the war. "Russian troops hit a nine-story building and a house. As a result of the strike on the house, a 50-year-old civilian died on the spot," said regional governor Oleg Sinegubov, quoted by BTA.
A 60-year-old woman was also injured in the attack, the governor added and shared a photo showing a pile of debris next to the collapsed part of a multi-storey residential building.
The attack came hours after Russia fired at least seven missiles at Ukraine overnight, two of which were shot down by air defenses. In recent months, Ukraine has asked its Western allies to provide it with more air defense assets to deal with a growing number of Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure.
