Russian President Vladimir Putin sent congratulations to employees and representatives of municipal authorities. A congratulatory telegram was published on the Kremlin website.
"Dear friends! Congratulations on the Day of Local Self-Government. The institution of local self-government has a rich history in our country, which began on April 21, 1785 with the signing of the Charter of Cities by Catherine II“, the announcement says.
The President noted the important and responsible mission of local authorities. “Improving the social infrastructure of our cities, improving rural areas and solving people's most popular, everyday problems largely depends on their effective, well-coordinated work. Here, we really rely on you - employees at all levels of municipal power, on your professionalism, sensitivity and concern, on your sincere desire to change the lives of your compatriots for the better," Putin noted. The President also emphasized the importance of supporting significant public initiatives, creating conditions for people's participation in setting priorities for the development of their cities and in the implementation of projects and programs.
He wished success and all the best to the employees and representatives of the municipal government.
