Australian authorities have arrested four Americans and charged them with attempted to import cocaine into Australian territory, DPA reported, quoted by BTA, referring to today's police statement.
A 55-year-old American man has been charged with planning and leading an international drug-trafficking organization, Australian police said. The American was arrested in Melbourne a few days after he arrived from Los Angeles.
The man is said to have led three American women, aged 22, 24 and 35 respectively, who arrived from Los Angeles to Melbourne on another flight and carried a total of 30kg of cocaine hidden in their luggage.
The three women were arrested on arrival in Melbourne.
Each of the four American citizens is at risk of receiving a maximum sentence of life in prison if convicted, DPA notes.
