President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky this evening in his traditional video address called for efforts to minimizing the time between political decisions on providing military aid to Ukraine and giving the corresponding opportunities to the country's soldiers, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
"The time between political decisions and inflicting real defeats on the enemy at the front, between the approval of the aid package and the provision of (military) power to our boys must be minimized," the head of state said. "And this power is really necessary to change the situation on the front," said the president of Ukraine, quoted by Reuters.
Ukrinform notes that Zelensky emphasized in his video address the need for air defense on the front line.
"We continue to maintain contacts with the American side. At all necessary levels. The quick reaction of the Senate (in approving aid to Ukraine after the US House of Representatives did so) is crucial for us now," Zelensky said.
"Air defense at the front is as important as the defense of our towns and villages. As well as our long-range shelling capabilities. As well as the ability to expand the territory of our control. We are doing everything possible to strengthen the protection of our skies," the Ukrainian president added.
He added that he had received a report on the situation at the front from the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Sirsky.
"Today the commander in chief reported to me about destroyed targets in the occupied territory. The Russian army is forced to suffer losses every day. I am grateful to each of our soldiers!", Zelensky said.
Earlier, he wrote in the application "Telegram" that the "Patriot" is an air defense system only when it goes into action and Ukraine needs it now.
""The Patriot" it can only be called an air defense system if it works and saves lives, and not stuck in a warehouse somewhere. Modern combat aircraft are needed where modern times are put to the test and it is determined whether the children and grandchildren of today's generations will live in peace and security.
