Two young Bavarian couples who visited Hitler's birthplace on his birthday his day, are charged on suspicion of violating the Nazi Prohibition Act, DPA reported today, quoted by BTA.
According to the police, the group, aged between 24 and 31, comes from the Plattling area in the Degendorf district, Bavaria in Braunau an Inn in Austria. A police patrol noticed one of the women giving the Hitler salute, but when questioned, the 26-year-old woman stated that she did it as a joke. According to the police, however, messages and photos related to National Socialism were found on her phone.
Every year around Hitler's birthday, the police increase the number of patrols around the house where he was born on April 20, 1889.
Work to renovate the house began in October last year and is expected to prevent neo-Nazis from making pilgrimages to the site. In the future, the building, which is state-owned, is expected to function as a police station and as a human rights training site.
