The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky , announced the meeting with the British Finance Minister Jeremy Hunt in Kiev and called for the tightening of sanctions against Russia, Reuters and News.bg report.
In "Telegram" the Ukrainian leader said he was grateful to his close ally Britain for the £500m defense package announced earlier this week.
"Special attention was paid to the sanctions policy. It is important to expand the restrictive measures against Russia and exclude the possibility of circumventing the sanctions," Zelensky insisted.
He indicated that Hunt would meet with Prime Minister Denis Schmigal and other ministers later today.
Earlier, the Ukrainian president criticized his European partners for delaying decisions on arms supplies to Kiev, stressing that Ukraine "cannot afford to wait for allies to make decisions" this year.
