Netanyahu considers limited deal with Hamas to release hostages - 1

Israel is considering a limited deal with the Palestinian Islamist group "Hamas" for the release of at least 20 hostages, DPA reported, referring to the Israeli TV channel "Channel 12", BTA reported.

Benyamin Netanyahu's military cabinet has discussed an option in which "Hamas" to release women, elderly and sick hostages, and in exchange for Israel to allow displaced residents of the Gaza Strip to return to the northern part of the enclave. The proposal is said to be sent to "Hamas" soon. through intermediaries.

"Channel 12" points out that with this proposal the Israeli government is trying to circumvent the request of "Hamas" for a permanent ceasefire.

It is not yet clear how long the truce could last and whether Palestinian prisoners will be released.

According to the TV channel, an Egyptian delegation is due to arrive in Israel today, with which to discuss options for getting out of the deadlock in which negotiations for the release of the hostages have fallen.
