Russian soldiers from the group "Center" have carried out the evacuation of the first American M1 Abrams tank from the front line in the Avdeev sector in Donbas, the head of the group's press center, Alexander Savchuk, told RIA Novosti, as quoted by Focus.
"The fighters from the group "Center“ they successfully evacuated the tank from the front. Soon everyone will be able to see it at an exhibition“, assured Savchuk.
At least five Abrams tanks have been decommissioned in Ukraine in the past two months.
Last Friday, the Associated Presss, citing the US military, reported that Ukraine had stopped using US-transferred tanks on the front because of Russian drone strikes. Later, this information was confirmed by the deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Maxim Buzhansky. In total, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (VSU) received 31 machines of this type.
On May 1, the Ministry of Defense of Russia opened an exhibition of trophy equipment captured at the front in Ukraine. Among the "exhibits” promise Marder and Bradley infantry fighting vehicles, as well as German-made Leopard tanks, TASS reported earlier, citing the military department in Moscow.
