Ecuador's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said today that it has filed a claim against Mexico at the International Court of Justice for Mexico's granting of asylum to former Ecuadorian vice president Jorge Voice, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
Glass, who has twice been convicted of corruption and now faces new charges, was arrested this month during a police raid at the Mexican embassy in Quito, where he had been living since December.
The invasion has drawn international criticism and Mexico has already filed a case against Ecuador in the International Court of Justice over the case.
Ecuador's representatives at the court in The Hague filed the suit, the foreign ministry said in a statement, "due to a series of violations by Mexico of a number of international obligations in the country's conduct since December 17, 2023.

The lawsuit also mentions insulting statements by Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador, the ministry added.
