Six injured in Russian drone attack in Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions - 1

Russian forces launched a drone attack overnight in Ukraine's Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk regions. At least six people were injured, and key infrastructure was hit, Reuters reported, citing local authorities, BTA specifies.

The Ukrainian Air Force said that Russian forces sent 13 drones “Shahed“ in both areas. Ukraine's air defenses have shot down all the drones, the Air Force Command said.

But debris from the downed drones hit civilian objects in Kharkiv, where four people were injured, and a fire broke out in an office building, said local regional governor Oleg Sinegubov. A 13-year-old child and a woman are among the injured. Firefighters are in the process of controlling the fire in the business building.

In the Dnipropetrovsk region, regional governor Sergiy Lisak said that two people were injured by falling debris from downed drones. Critical infrastructure was also damaged, as well as three houses.

At the same time, Russia announced that it had shot down four US-made long-range missiles over Crimea. The Russian Ministry of Defense said it was a missile for the ATAX systems, but gave no further details.

ATAX missiles have a range of up to 300 kilometers.

The Pentagon was initially reluctant to supply long-range missiles to Ukraine because of concerns that withdrawing such munitions from US stockpiles would affect US military readiness. The Pentagon also had concerns that Ukraine could use these long-range missiles to strike deep into Russia, escalating the war into a direct confrontation between Russia and the US.

Russia annexed Crimea from Ukraine in 2014. The Russian Black Sea Fleet is based there.
