With In his decree, Russian President Vladimir Putin established a new honorary title - "Honored Worker of the Electoral System of the Russian Federation". The document has been published on the official portal for legal information, TASS reported.
"In order to further improve the system of state awards of the Russian Federation, I decree: the honorary title “Deserved Worker of the Electoral System of the Russian Federation“ is established, the decree says.
The regulations for the new honorary title were approved with the same document. According to the document, it can be awarded to members of the Central Election Commission and other election commissions with electoral rights, as well as other employees of the election commissions for personal merits in the preparation of elections and referendums, the development of the electoral system, the improvement of the legal culture of voters, provision and protection of electoral rights, etc.
Honorary titles are part of the Russian state awards system and are one of the forms of rewarding citizens for their merits in various fields. Together with the new honorary title, their total number reached 70 (including the title of People's Artist or Honored Worker of a Certain Field).
The Public Chamber of the Russian Federation proposed to establish honorary titles for officials of the electoral system after the presidential elections in March. The reason was the heroic work of the members of the election commissions in Donbass and Novorossiya, who fulfilled their duty despite the shelling from Ukraine.
The President of Russia noted the importance of the work of election commission members at a meeting with representatives of election commissions in November 2023. Putin pointed out that the work of election commission members requires clarity, organization, objectivity and delicacy in communication with people, attention to their requests and claims.
