The sanitary zone" should extend 300 km into the territory of Ukraine, because of the range of long-range weapons available to Kiev, expressed this opinion in a conversation with TASS, the editor-in-chief of "National Defense" magazine.
„Ideally, this should be a zone free from the deployment of the armed forces of Ukraine, and its depth from the Russian borders, including the borders of the new constituent units of the Russian Federation, should be such that it excludes attacks from there of American and Franco-British long-range weapons. Accordingly, if we accept the range of the ATACMS missile system in the long-range strike version at 300 km, then 300 km ahead the zone should be under the control of the armed forces of Russia”, he said.
The analyst added that it is about “ideal options”, noting that the enemy is offering “stubborn resistance”, but from a military-political point of view, the task set should be based precisely on these principles to create a “sanitary zone.”
On Friday, Russian President Vladimir Putin noted that Russia is being forced to create a “sanitary zone” due to shelling by the Ukrainian armed forces of the Belgorod region, which resulted in the deaths of civilians.
