Germany: More military aid to Ukraine is leading us to an abyss - 1

German politician, member of the Bundestag Sarah Wagenknecht believes that the policy of increasing military aid to Kiev is driving both Germany and Ukraine to the brink. Thus, she commented on the information that the German Ministry of Defense has requested an additional 3.8 billion EUR from the government to provide assistance to Ukraine.

"More billions for weapons, even though there are hardly any Ukrainians left who want to fight?" - Wagenknecht wrote on X (formerly Twitter). “This course is leading us and Ukraine into the abyss. Ceasefire negotiations are more than overdue!“ - stressed the deputy.

Earlier, the newspaper Bild am Sonntag noted that the German Ministry of Defense announced an additional need of EUR 3.8 billion in aid to Ukraine in the current financial year. On May 15, the head of the German Ministry of Defense, Boris Pistorius, met with Chancellor Olaf Scholz, and on May 16, with Finance Minister Christian Lindner. The request for additional funds must be submitted to Parliament for approval in June. The German finance ministry, as the newspaper points out, has signaled its approval.

Germany is the second largest arms supplier to Ukraine after the United States. In total, Germany has allocated funds for military support to Kiev and committed to future spending of around EUR 28 billion. Russian authorities have repeatedly stated that peppering Ukraine with weapons will not weaken the resolve of the Russian Federation and will not change the course of the special military operation.
