At least 4 people died and 21 others were injured yesterday when a two-story building collapsed on the beach in Palma de Mallorca, popular with foreign tourists Majorca in the Spanish Balearic Islands, Reuters reported, citing BTA, referring to a message from the local emergency service on the social platform "X".
The identity of the victims is not yet known and it is not known whether there are foreign tourists among them, adds DPA.
Firefighters, medics and the local police came immediately to the scene of the accident, psychologists were also called, the message says.
According to Spanish media, the building that collapsed was a restaurant. Local media reported that the first floor of the restaurant "Medusa Beach Club" (Medusa Beach Club) collapsed around 20:30 local time (18:30 GMT).
The first floor of the restaurant has collapsed to the basement, the media, including the Spanish "Pais", wrote, citing eyewitnesses. Some of the victims are believed to be still buried under the rubble, local residents claim.
The cause of the building's collapse is still unknown.
