The president of the Czech Republic, Petar Pavel, was injured, but not seriously, while riding a motorcycle, reported on the social platform "X" the office of the head of state, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
"The President was injured while riding his motorcycle," the statement said. "The injuries are not serious, but will require a short observation in the hospital," added the presidential office, noting that it will provide more information when it becomes known.
Czech police also reported on the "X" platform that the incident happened in a closed section and was not a traffic accident.
Sixty-two-year-old Pavel, a former commander-in-chief of the Czech army and a high-ranking NATO official, took over the presidency last year and has since continued to pursue his hobby of motorcycling, Reuters notes.
