Special Prosecutor Jack Smith asked Florida Federal Judge Eileen Cannon last night to bar Donald Trump from makes statements in the courtroom that are "potentially dangerous" for the law enforcement authorities, in the case against him for withholding secret documents, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
Smith explained that the request was necessary because of "several deliberately false and inflammatory statements made recently by Trump that misrepresented the circumstances surrounding the search of his Mar a Largo estate. in the US state of Florida".
It was carried out in 2022 to seize classified material that Trump had kept after leaving the presidency.
A day before the indictment request, US Attorney General Merrick Garland called Trump's claims that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was authorized to shoot him during a 2022 raid "false" and "extremely dangerous", reported Reuters.
In his filing against Cannon, prosecutor Smith described Trump's comments as "crude and misleading,", according to Reuters.
