The Russian Ministry of Agriculture does not plan to change its forecasts for the time being of cereals and the quantities expected to be exported, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.
"For now, we do not plan to revise our forecast (for cereal production - note ed.)". This was stated by Russian Minister of Agriculture Oksana Lut to journalists in Tashkent, quoted by Interfax.
Her statement comes against the backdrop of cold and dry weather in the southern part of the country in May, the Russian agency indicates.
The Russian Ministry of Agriculture predicts this year's cereal harvest to reach 132 million tons. It estimates the losses of agricultural production due to the cold weather this month on 900 thousand hectares of land. A state of emergency has been declared in ten Russian regions because of the drought, Interfax reports.
Last year, 144.9 million tons of cereals were harvested in Russia, including 92.8 million tons of wheat, and in 2022 - 157.6 million tons (104.2 million wheat), according official data of Moscow.
