Internal party elections for a new chairman of SDSM will be held on June 30, is the decision of today's meeting of the Executive council of the SDSM, reported the party in the Republic of North Macedonia, BTA reported.
With Dimitar Kovachevski's resignation and today's decision, the deadlines for the candidates for the new chairman of the SDSM to prepare their candidacies and programs to present to the membership table, as well as active registration for voting on the party members in the elections.
At a meeting to be held on May 30, the Central Council of the SDSM must adopt Regulations on the criteria, method and term for conducting the procedure for electing a new chairman, the announcement specifies.
In the elections held on May 8, the SDSM, which has ruled the country since 2017, received the lowest result in its history, which Dimitar Kovachevski called a “heavy blow”. A few days ago, he resigned, which was previously done by the vice-presidents of the party. Upon entering the meeting, Kovachevski stated that he would not run again for the chairmanship of the SDSM.
