Alfredo Cabrera, a mayoral candidate for the city of Coyuca de Benitez in the southern Mexican state of Guerrero, was killed this Wednesday during its closing campaign in a shooting attack that was recorded on video, perfil.com reported.

„I strongly condemn the regrettable events in which Benitez lost his life”, Governor Evelyn Salgado said on her social network X profile.
The video shows Cabrera, wearing a red shirt and surrounded by supporters, being shot multiple times, causing chaos and panic among those attending the rally.
Cabrera's alleged killer "was killed" at the scene of the crime, the Guerrero state prosecutor's office later announced in a statement
On Tuesday morning, the federal government said 22 candidates were killed during the election process, which began last September with the registration of candidates.
