The editor-in-chief of the “Washington Post” Sally Busby suddenly resigned, dariknews.bg reported.
The famous American newspaper is going through a major restructuring, the CEO announced.
Taking up the post in 2021, Busby was the publication's first female editor in 150 years.
Her departure is part of the biggest move by publisher and CEO William Lewis since he took over in January, CNN reported.
Matt Murray, former editor-in-chief of the “Wall Street Journal”, takes over as executive editor until the US presidential election in November.
No reason was given for the departure of Busby, a former managing editor of the Associated Press.
In an email to staff, Lewis said he aims to launch a “new editorial department” in this year.
The new activity will be separated from the traditional newsroom and from the department for editorial materials and opinions.
It will focus on “journalism in the field of services and social media“, while using artificial intelligence.
