The national electricity system operator "Ukrenergo" ordered immediate temporary power outages in 12 regions of Ukraine after electricity consumption limits were exceeded last night due to a critical shortage, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
Ukrainians were warned to limit consumption after Russian airstrikes in recent weeks severely damaged the country's production capacity, the agency noted.
The temporary outages took effect from 20:40 local time (17:40 GMT) and covered the regions from Volyn and Lviv Oblasts in the north-west of the country to Odesa Oblast in the south and Zaporozhye Oblast in the south-east of Ukraine.
The power outages will end once the consumption drops to the corresponding levels, adds "Ukrenergo".
