Far-right Reform UK party" of the populist Nigel Farage is now approaching two points from the conservatives, according to the latest YouGov survey for "Sky News", BNR reported.
The latest exclusive weekly poll, conducted on Monday and Tuesday, ahead of the first live televised debate between Rishi Sunak and Keir Starmer, gave Labor a 40% approval rating. The Tories followed with 19%, "Reform the UK" with 17%, the Liberal Democrats with 10% and the Greens with 7%.
Interestingly, most of the survey was conducted after Nigel Farage made a surprise U-turn on Monday, becoming leader of the "reformers" and is running for the general election on July 4.
The study is likely to alarm some Conservatives who fear losing voters from their party's right wing to Reform UK, especially now that Farage is in charge, Sky News said. "The Times" says that since Farage has been in charge, 7,000 new members have joined the party. And Nadine Dorris - a former minister from the time of Boris Johnson, predicts that the "reformers" this weekend they will overtake the conservatives in the polls. Analysts believe that Nigel Farage's party can win four seats in the new parliament.
