Political parties on the French left announced that they had reached an agreement to form of the "People's Front" and will participate together in early parliamentary elections at the end of June, reported Reuters, quoted by BTA.

The four main left parties - "Rebellious France", the Socialist Party, "The Environmentalists" and the French Communist Party agreed to share almost all 577 constituencies and unite under the name "Popular Front", a reference to the coalition formed in France in 1936, known for introducing the country's first paid holidays, notes AFP.

"A new page in the history of France was written with the new "Popular Front", the parties said in a joint statement. "Now we start our campaign with the goal of winning," said in "X" François Rufen from the far-left party "Disobedient France".

This coalition will face the far-right "National Assembly", which is currently leading the polls.

Macron called the early elections, which will be held in two rounds, on June 30 and July 7, after his centrist alliance was defeated by the "National Assembly" in the European elections on Sunday.
