Thousands were evacuated due to large forest fires in the United States, NOVA reported.
A city in the state of New Mexico is threatened by the elements. A mandatory evacuation order was issued for 5,000 residents.
Both roads into the city of Ruidoso were closed, allowing only evacuees through. Several thousand more people in the area have been warned that they too may have to leave their homes.
Authorities said they did not know how many homes had burned, but at least 500 structures were in the area where the flames were. Several large fires are raging in the United States.
In California, they extinguish the most dangerous with airplanes. Experts say this fire season is also shaping up to be very destructive. This is attributed to global warming making normal summer fires larger and more extreme.
