The President of Albania Bajram Begai undertook an important two-day trip to Kosovo, reported the Albanian news bulletin "Voxnews". The visit is for the purpose of pilgrimage in honor of the heroes of the past, BTA reports.
Begai will visit three key municipalities - Dečan, Younik and Drenas. Its mission is to pay homage to the brave fighters of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) who gave their lives during the turbulent Kosovo war of 1998-99.
Begai will receive the title “Honorary Citizen of Dechan“.
In a statement, he reflected on the significance of the place where 25 years ago the first shots of liberation were fired.
„We remember all the martyrs and fallen with honor and pride”, Begai noted, encapsulating the sentiment of a nation grateful for its heroes.
The ceremony was attended by prominent figures from the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, including former Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj and MPs Besnik Tahiri, Taim Kardijai and Pal Lekai, all gathered to remember and honor their shared history.
President Begai's visit to Kosovo serves as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made for freedom and lasting ties between Albania and Kosovo.
