Seoul called the agreement on a comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and the DPRK an "anachronism" - 1

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in message to Kim Jong-un that the recent meeting with the North Korean leader in the DPRK has ensured an unprecedented high level of relations between Russia and North Korea, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA, citing the North Korean news agency KCTA.

The visit opened up a new horizon for cooperation in various fields, Putin's message, quoted by KCTA, also says.

"The message expresses the hope that Kim Jong-un will not forget that he is an honored guest whom Russia is always ready to welcome," reports KCTA.

The President of the Republic of Korea, Yun Seok-yeol, at an event dedicated to the anniversary of the start of the Korean War, called the agreement on a comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and the DPRK an anachronism, Yonhap Agency reported.

„This is an anachronistic action that runs counter to the course of history,” the president said of the treaty and the launch of North Korean trash balloons.

Yoon Seok-yeol also claimed that the agreement violates UN Security Council resolutions.

On June 19, during Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Pyongyang, Russia and North Korea signed a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement, which provides for immediate military assistance in the event of a defensive war. President Putin said the new agreement does not pose a threat to South Korea's security. The document touches on cooperation in several areas, including the promotion of joint research in space and peaceful nuclear energy.
