A car plowed into a group of pedestrians near Seoul City Hall, killing nine people. At least 4 people were injured, the Associated Press reported, citing a source from the emergency services, quoted by BTA.
The tragedy occurred while the group of pedestrians were waiting at a traffic light to cross downtown Seoul. Then a car suddenly veered into the oncoming lane, hitting two other cars before plowing into people waiting at the traffic lights.
According to media reports, the driver of the car, who was in his 60s, said that the car suddenly increased its speed by itself. He was arrested. The police have not yet confirmed these media reports.
