Olaf Scholz: Germany must be the guarantor of Europe's stability - 1

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz emphasized the decisive role of Germany for maintaining Europe's stability during its challenges. Scholz's remarks underscored the importance of Germany's leadership and support in promoting a stable and secure environment across Europe. Germany must be the guarantor of the stability of Europe, which is going through difficult times, the country's leader said, quoted by France Presse, BTA reports.

The chancellor expressed his concern about the result of the second round of the French parliamentary elections, which will be produced on Sunday.

We should not isolate ourselves from the world at this time and we should not only concern ourselves, urged Olaf Scholz.

Scholz said this after the three parties in Germany's ruling coalition, after weeks of negotiations, managed to reach an agreement today on next year's federal budget.

The three parties negotiated with a sense of responsibility as the world faces multiple crises, German Vice Chancellor and Economy Minister Robert Habeck said.

Regarding the French election and the US presidential election campaign, Habeck said the German government is focusing on "preserving the stability of Germany" to be a reliable partner in Europe and beyond.

Earlier this week, Scholz, who is pro-European, revealed that he and French President Emmanuel Macron were in daily communication in the days leading up to the election, AP noted.

"We are discussing the situation, which is really depressing,", Scholz said at a Social Democratic Party of Germany event in Berlin on Tuesday.

"I hope that the French people, whom I love and appreciate so much, and that the country that means so much to me, will prevent the coming of a government led by a right-wing populist party," said the German chancellor.
