The first high-level dialogue between Turkey and The EU on trade issues will be held today in Brussels. It will be co-chaired by the Minister of Trade, Yomer Bolat, and the Vice-President of the European Commission, Valdis Dombrovskis, reported the Anatolian Agency, quoted by BTA.
Bolat and Dombrovskis will meet representatives of the EU and the Turkish business community at a round table in the morning, and in the afternoon intergovernmental meetings will be held.
Progress on bilateral trade and cooperation issues, including the green and digital agendas, will be discussed in the framework of the Trade Working Group meeting held in October 2023
Discussions on deepening trade and economic cooperation between Turkey and the EU are also planned.
A high-level trade dialogue between Turkey and the EU was among the recommendations in the joint declaration on the current state of political, trade and economic relations between Turkey and the EU in November 2023, and it was decided that the first meeting under this mechanism would be held on 8 July 2024
This dialogue will provide an important platform to discuss trade and economic relations between Turkey and the EU at the highest level and to continue the positive work on updating the Customs Union, notes Anadolu Agency
