Poland, France, Germany and Italy have signed a letter of intent to develop the cruise missile with a range of over 500 kilometers, the Polish news agency PAP reported, citing the Polish Foreign Ministry, quoted by BTA.
The leaders of the countries signed the agreement yesterday during the 75th NATO summit in Washington.
"The goal is to establish cooperation in the development of a key depth-strike capability and, in the future, joint designs for specific measures to address gaps, reduce costs and lead times," it said in a statement of the Ministry.
According to Poland's Defense Minister Władysław Kośniak-Kamisz, the cooperation will allow the exchange of expertise and the joint purchase of missiles that are "already under development".
"We expect that more countries will join, I would not like to limit myself to these four," he pointed out. "We will see the results in the next 12 months,", Koshinyak-Kamish added.
