In a statement published in "X", the wife of the Republican US presidential candidate Donald Trump Melania said that all Americans are in her thoughts after the assassination attempt on her husband during a campaign rally in the city of Butler in the state of Pennsylvania, BTA reported.
Trump, who will be the Republican Party candidate in the presidential election in November, was slightly injured in the right ear and was quickly taken from the stage of the rally by agents of the "Secret Service". As a result of the shooting, a person who took part in the rally died, and two more were injured.
The US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) took over the case and said it was an attempted murder. The twenty-year-old attacker was killed by Secret Service agents. seconds after firing several shots with an assault rifle at a Trump rally.
"We have always been a unique union. America, the fabric of our meek nation is torn, but our courage and common sense must rise up and bring us back together,'' the first lady of the United States wrote.
In her words, when she saw the bullet enter her husband, Melania realized that her life, as well as the life of her son Barron, were on the verge of a devastating change. She thanked the "courageous agents of the "Secret Service" and to the law enforcement officers who risked their lives to protect my husband.
Melania also offered her condolences to the families of the innocent victims.
"The dawn is here again. Let's unite. Now", writes the first lady.
"This morning, rise above hatred, foul language and simple-minded ideas that fuel violence. We all want a world where respect is paramount, family comes first and love trumps all. We can create this world again. We should all beg for him to come back. We must insist that respect once again return to the foundations of our relations," she added.
Melania thanked all the people who expressed support and praised those who reached out across the political divide and remembered that every politician is also a man or woman with a loving family.
