Authorities in four German states searched properties linked to the far-right magazine “Compact“ (Compact), after the interior ministry in Berlin banned it and said today that it works against the constitutional order in the federal republic, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
„It is a central mouthpiece in the right-wing extremist space. "This magazine incites hatred against Jews, people of migrant background and our parliamentary democracy in a disgusting way," said Home Secretary Nancy Feser.
The ban, which also applies to Compact's subsidiary “Consperpct Film“ (Conspect Film), excludes any continuation of previous activities.
Jürgen Elzesser, the magazine's editor-in-chief, did not immediately respond to an emailed request for comment.
The monthly magazine, with a circulation of 40,000 copies and a wide presence on social media, spreads a concept of a society that seeks to present certain ethnic groups as second-class citizens and creates a climate of marginalization, the interior ministry in Berlin said.
