The Supreme Court in Greece has extradited a Bulgarian to the USA, wanted with an Interpol red notice for participation in a criminal group and smuggling, BNR reported, quoted by News.bg.
The Bulgarian was detained in Seres, and he is wanted for smuggling goods from the USA through Bulgaria to Russia.
According to the information of the Greek authorities, the Bulgarian - his identity is not indicated - purchased integrated circuits and other electronic elements from the USA at the expense of a Bulgarian company, and they were transferred to Russia without the permission of the American manufacturers. This violates US export bans imposed on Moscow.
He is accused of creating a criminal group to carry out smuggling.
The court rejected the defendant's claim that the extradition violated his right to a fair trial. The Department of Justice has issued an authorization for his handover to US judicial authorities.
