The pace of arms transfer from the United States to Israel can be defined as a record, Pentagon chief Lloyd Austin said on Thursday, quoted by News.bg.
"As for our security assistance, it is being provided at a record pace," he said at a Pentagon press conference, asked to comment on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's call for speeding up arms deliveries.
"We transfer arms quickly and will continue to do so," Austin added. However, he noted that he would not comment on Netanyahu's words.
On Wednesday, Netanyahu, speaking before the US Congress, called on Washington to transfer weapons to his country more quickly.
"Accelerating US military aid could bring an end to the fighting in Gaza much closer and help prevent a wider conflict in the Middle East," he said during his speech to the US Congress.
"We will get this job done faster if you speed up the transfer of the tools we need to get it done," added Netanyahu.
He noted that the same analogy of work and tools was used by Winston Churchill during World War II when he asked the US for military aid.
