The Kremlin dismissed as "absurd" accusations by US intelligence that Russia wanted to interfere in the US presidential election and said that US spies intended to categorize Russia as an enemy state, Reuters reported, as quoted by BTA.
U.S. intelligence officials said Russia wanted to influence the November election and that Moscow used Russian-based collective influence companies to shape U.S. public opinion.
"As for these allegations, they are absurd and we categorically reject them," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said in response to a question related to Washington's accusations.
"There will be many such statements as the election approaches, as Russia and in particular the Russian head of state are extremely important factors that both Republicans and Democrats use in their political struggle, especially during election campaigns. " said Peskov.
