The Lebanese armed group "Hezbollah" said it was still searching for the body of a high-ranking commander who fell victim to an Israeli strike in Beirut, the Associated Press reported, citing BTA.
The Iran-backed group's first comment after the strike targeting Fuad Shukr came hours after yesterday's strike and after an overnight strike in Tehran that killed the leader of "Hamas" Ismail Hania.
The Shia movement specified that Shukr was indeed in the building hit by the Israeli strike, but stressed that his fate was unknown, notes AFP.
Israel said it had killed Shukr, who it said was behind a rocket attack on the village of Majdal Shams in the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights that killed 12 youths.
Like most Hezbollah military personnel, little is known about Shukr, who was also known as Said Muhsan. Washington accuses him of planning and orchestrating the 1983 truck bombing of Marine barracks in Beirut that killed 241 American servicemen. The US Treasury has offered a $5 million reward for information about him.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health reported that at least two children and a woman were killed in the attack and 74 others were injured.
