Russian military personnel have launched the third stage of their tactical nuclear exercises. Troops from the Central and Southern Military Districts, as well as from the Aerospace Forces, are participating in them, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced, as quoted by TASS and News.bg.
The department states that the exercise is aimed at working out ways to prepare for the combat use of non-strategic nuclear weapons. At this stage, the troops of the missile units of the Central and Southern Military Districts will practice receiving special training ammunition for the "Iskander-M" missile system, their equipment on launchers and covert advance to the designated positional areas for conducting radio-electronic missile launches .
Air Force personnel participating in the exercise will be trained to load special warheads into aircraft weapons and fly to designated patrol areas.
According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the purpose of the exercise is to maintain the combat readiness of the troops and equipment of the combat units of Russia's tactical nuclear weapons.
Troops stationed in the Southern and Leningrad Military Districts, as well as the Aerospace Forces and the Navy, were trained to prepare for the use of non-strategic nuclear weapons during the first and second stages of the exercise.
We remind you that in May, Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the army to train the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in response to a threat from the West.
