The Armed Forces of Ukraine (VSU ) can solve the problem of the Russian offensive in Eastern Ukraine thanks to the F-16 fighter jets, assured the reserve colonel and pilot-instructor Roman Svitan on the air of Radio NV, as quoted by Focus.
"One of the mechanisms to stop the Russians in the east is to prevent them from dropping a sufficient quantity of guided aerial bombs. And a pair of F-16s are enough to accomplish this task. In the end, at least the Russians will be more afraid and reduce the number of aerial bombs. The comprehensive approach to accomplishing this task is to use the F-16 with the entire triad of systems. An F-16 can take a serious hit. That's why there should be air and ground air defense systems, explained Svitan.
He added that now Ukraine has serious problems only on one section of the front - the Pokrov direction. According to the expert, the Russian army there aimed to reach the administrative borders of the Donetsk region during the summer offensive campaign. However, the expert believes that the Ukrainian Armed Forces can stop its advance.
"The solution to the problem must be comprehensive. There must be a sufficient number of anti-personnel mines – this is very important. We have a serious deficit. But also a sufficient amount of FPV-drones, shells for artillery. This will give additional points for solving this problem”, Svitan was categorical.
