An explosion rocked the "Avangard“ in the city of Sterlitamak in Bashkortostan, the Russian service of Radio Svoboda reports, as quoted by Focus.
According to preliminary data, the explosion occurred when a repair crew dismantled a pipeline in one of the workshops. All three members of the brigade died on the spot.
The causes of the accident are being established, but a criminal case has been opened in the case for violation of occupational safety rules. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation suggests that the workers violated safety measures.
The "Avangard" plant belongs to the state corporation "Rostech" and fulfills defense orders. Produces components for missile systems. The company is under sanctions of the European Union, as well as of Switzerland and Ukraine.
