US and Qatar Warn Iran, Hamas and Israel: Don't Undermine Peace Talks

US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have consulted with their national security advisors regarding the situation in the Middle East, reported Agence France-Presse, quoted by BTA.

The consultations came against the backdrop of threats from Iran against Israel.

The meeting was held in the Situation Room of the White House - the nerve center of the American administration in case of international crises. It discussed US military efforts to support Israel's security and diplomatic efforts to calm regional tensions and release hostages held in Gaza.

The US and Qatar have called on all parties not to undermine negotiations to achieve a ceasefire in Gaza. This is seen as a veiled warning to Iran, "Hamas" and Israel, notes France Press.

U.S. top diplomat Anthony Blinken and Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani stressed in a phone call that no player in the region should take steps to undermine efforts to reach an agreement, said State Department spokesman Vedant Patel.

Blinken then spoke with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelati, as part of efforts in recent days to avoid an escalation of tensions in the region. Blinken has already held similar talks with his colleagues from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Turkey and Israel.

Discussions today in Doha on a Gaza ceasefire are based on a plan announced on May 31 by US President Joe Biden. On Tuesday, Biden said a cease-fire in Gaza could prevent an Iranian attack on Israel.
