At Kiev's request, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has convened a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council, said alliance spokeswoman Fara Dakhla, quoted by Reuters and dariknews.bg
"The meeting will be held at the level of ambassadors," Dakhla said. "Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov is expected to inform allies via video link about the situation on the battlefield and to say what the priority needs of the Ukrainian army are,", she added.
The NATO-Ukraine Council was established last year to ensure closer coordination between the alliance and Kyiv.
"The meeting is being called after the latest heavy Russian strikes against Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure. "NATO allies have provided significant support to Ukraine's air defenses and are determined to continue strengthening them," noted Dakhla.
Russia attacked dozens of Ukrainian regions with missiles and drones yesterday, killing at least five people. A day earlier, Moscow launched the largest air attack against Ukraine since the beginning of the war.
