The US administration will take action against the leaders of the Palestinian radical movement Hamas because of the death of the hostage Hersh Goldberg- Pauline, who had American-Israeli citizenship. This was stated in a written statement by US President Joe Biden, quoted by TASS.
He said six bodies of hostages were found by Israeli troops in a tunnel near Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, including that of Goldberg-Pollin. The head of state accused Hamas of being responsible for the death of the American citizen.
Among the identified bodies of hostages in Gaza is the Russian Alexander Lobanov
„Rest assured, the leaders of Hamas will pay for these crimes, we will continue to work around the clock to reach an agreement for the release of the remaining hostages,” concluded the American leader.
The Israel Defense Forces earlier announced the discovery of several bodies of hostages kidnapped by Hamas on October 7, 2023, during the fighting in the Gaza Strip.
On August 15-16, negotiations were held in Doha to reach a truce in the Gaza Strip and release the hostages held by Hamas. A joint statement by Egypt, Qatar and the United States after the consultations noted that they took place in a positive atmosphere. The next round of negotiations took place in Cairo on August 25. The Israeli delegation arrived there, led by Mossad intelligence chief David Barnea. Hamas spokesman Izzat al-Rishq said the movement's delegation left Cairo after meetings with mediators from Egypt and Qatar. According to him, Hamas has insisted that Israel fulfill the conditions that the movement agreed to on July 2. On Wednesday, mediation working groups met again in Doha.
