Turkey launches investigation into death of Turkish - American activist Eisenur Ezgi Egi, killed by Israeli forces during a protest against settlements in the occupied West Bank. This was announced by the Turkish Minister of Justice Yilmaz Tunc, AP reported, quoted by News.bg.

On September 6, 26-year-old Eisenur Ezgi Egi, a resident of Seattle, was fatally shot during a demonstration against Israeli settlements in Palestinian territory. Israel has also launched an investigation into the case, with military sources saying she was likely shot "indirectly and unintentionally" of soldiers.

Tunch announced today that Ankara's Prosecutor General's Office is leading the Turkish investigation. He called on UN agencies, including the Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial, summary or arbitrary executions, to join the investigation.

The justice minister indicated that Turkey will present its findings to a UN court overseeing a genocide case against Israel brought by South Africa over the Gaza war.

According to the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Egi's body will probably be brought to the country on September 13. Her funeral is planned to take place in the coastal city of Didim, on the Aegean Sea, in accordance with her family's wishes.
