Kamala Harris: I offer a new generation of leadership - 1

Vice President Kamala Harris, who is vying for the US presidency with the Republican Donald Trump said yesterday that he differs from President Joe Biden because he offers “leadership of a new generation”, AP reported, quoted by BTA.

In her first solo TV interview since becoming the Democratic presidential nominee, Harris also criticized the “hatred and division that comes out of Donald Trump” and said she thinks people are “exhausted” from his leadership style.

She stated that she is a gun owner and does not want to take away anyone's guns, but believes that the ban on assault rifles is necessary and consistent with the Second Amendment to the Constitution, which protects the right to own guns.

Anchor Brian Taff of WPVI-TV in Philadelphia asked Harris to describe one or two areas where he differs from the president.

„Well obviously I'm not Joe Biden“ and “I offer a new generation of leadership,” said Harris, adding that things that were once taken for granted can no longer be ignored.

„For example, another plan that I have, which is a new approach, is to expand the tax credit to $6,000 for young families for the first year of their child's life, because that's obviously a very critical stage of a child's development, and so my approach is about new ideas, new policies that are focused on the present moment,” she said.

The interview was conducted in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, where Harris was yesterday at a campaign event.

Trump, his running mate, Sen. JD Vance, and other Republicans have criticized Harris for largely avoiding media interviews and not contacting reporters covering her campaign events. Last month, she and her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, gave a joint interview on CNN.
