Ukraine's government approves draft budget for 2025, in which strong emphasis is placed on defense spending, Prime Minister Denis Shmigal announced, BTA reported.
Shmigal said on the Telegram messaging app that the bill, which will be presented to parliament, foresees 2 trillion hryvnias ($48.2 billion) in revenue and 3.6 trillion hryvnias in spending.
The project, prepared 2 and a half years after the Russian invasion of the country, foresees 2.22 trillion hryvnias ($53.5 billion) for defense.
Shmigal said that preparations for the preparation of the draft budget, the third since the beginning of the invasion, had been completed “despite all the challenges and uncertainties”.

In his words, there will be “more money for Ukrainian weapons, equipment, drones”.
Over 400 billion hryvnias will be set aside for social security, and funds will be provided for indexation of pensions and provision of subsidies, and a total of 211 billion hryvnias will be set aside for health care.
