A tropical storm accompanied by heavy rains is forecast to hit central Vietnam late today, which will likely lead to dangerous floods, the government meteorological agency said, Reuters reported, quoted by BTA.
This happens shortly after the northern regions of the country were recently swept by the powerful typhoon "Yagi".
The storm, dubbed in Vietnam "Storm No. 4", is forecast to reach from Quang Tri to Quang Nam province in the evening, with wind gusts of up to 102 kilometers per hour, the weather agency said.
The Southeast Asian country was swept by Typhoon Yagi, the strongest storm to hit Asia this year, which made landfall in northern Vietnam nearly two weeks ago. The typhoon killed more than 290 people and caused about $1.6 billion in property damage.
"Storm #4" will cause rains with an intensity of between 100 and 300 millimeters from today to Friday in the central part of Vietnam, including the tourist destination of Da Nang, the agency reports.
