„These are not European values, a dictation”. This was stated by the Prime Minister of the Republic of North Macedonia, Hristijan Mickoski, after it became clear that Albania was separated from the Republic of Macedonia in the negotiation process with the EU. Tirana is expected to start negotiations with the bloc on October 15, NOVA reported.

„Is it so difficult for the Bulgarian parliament to first ratify the protocol for the accession of North Macedonia to the EU, and then we implement the constitutional changes,”, he asked. “We are the only case where bilateral agreements are conditions of the framework for negotiations with the EU”, the politician is categorical.

Mickoski claims that he found out about this decision of the EU during his visit to Brussels last week. “It sends a bad message to Macedonian citizens, because as a country we have come a long way since we started the path to full EU membership. Many things that no one has done, but we have done, and that have nothing to do with the Copenhagen criteria. I regret that the previous government took everything exhibitionist and waved the European flag while robbing the people.

We see the situation as it is. I share the impression of the vast majority of Macedonian citizens that we should no longer accept terms based on national concessions, without guarantees. If that is the condition for Macedonia, then no thanks. These are not European values," said the Prime Minister of the RSM.

Regarding the inclusion of Bulgarians in the RSM constitution, which is a condition for the start of negotiations between Skopje and the EU, Mickoski said that he discussed the topic with the Austrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Alexander Schallenberg. “Enough double standards on the back of this small country. We want to negotiate. What is so difficult about accepting our proposal and for these constitutional amendments to enter into force when the Bulgarian parliament ratifies the protocol for our accession to the EU. It is obvious that someone does not have honest intentions”, added Mickoski.
