At least 16 people were injured and civilian buildings were damaged in renewed Russian airstrikes hit the southern Ukrainian industrial city of Zaporizhia, the governor of the region of the same name Ivan Fedorov announced today, quoted by DPA and BTA.

Fyodorov posted on the social network “Telegram” pictures of shattered buildings, saying that people still remain under the rubble. Several fires broke out after a total of 13 airstrikes, he said.

Local authorities reported delayed trains as rescue teams cleared the debris.

Reuters specifies that the strikes in Zaporozhye used planning bombs, which are difficult for Ukrainian air defense to intercept.

Ukraine President Andriy Yermak's chief of staff said another Ukrainian city had been terrorized by Russian airstrikes and called on Western allies to supply Ukraine with additional weapons. According to him, the Russian economy should be attacked to remove the country's basis for waging war.

Additionally, Ukrainian Air Defense Forces reported 22 drone attacks from Russia, 15 of which were intercepted.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that in the last week alone, Russia has dropped 900 bombs on Ukraine. He added in "Telegram" that 300 attacks were carried out by drones and 40 by missiles.

„This Russian terror has no break and can only be stopped by the unity of the world – "unity in support of Ukraine and unity in pressure on Russia to end the war," he said.

In Moscow, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced that its air defense had shot down 125 Ukrainian drones over Voronezh, Belgorod, Rostov, Bryansk, Kursk and Krasnodar regions.

Authorities in the southwestern city of Voronezh reported damage caused by falling debris. Fires are also reported to have broken out.

Several cars, two residential blocks and a children's playground were damaged, announced the regional governor Alexander Gusev. No one was injured, he added.
