The European Parliament has announced that it is starting a conflict of interest investigation of the proposed new European Commissioners. The inspection will be carried out by the parliamentary committee on legal affairs and should be completed by October 18, BTA quoted.
The EP specifies that the checks will be held in closed sessions, and the results will be announced when all the candidates have been checked. Candidates' declarations of their interests will be published after the end of the screening and before the beginning of the hearings in the parliamentary committees. Applicants are required to indicate whether they have a conflict of interest in relation to their future duties at the European Commission.
As reported by BTA, last night the EP decided that the hearings of the candidates will be held in the period from November 4 to 12.
